Action: This is an action, such as a fold, check, call, bet, or raise that conveys information about your hand.
All-In: This is the action of putting your playable money and chips into the pot while playing a hand.
Ante: A prescribed amount posted before the start of a hand by all players.
Bet: The action of placing a wager in turn into the pot.
Blind: This is a required bet that is made before the cards are dealt.
Button: This is a player who is in the position of the designated dealer.
Button Games: A game in which a dealer button is used.
Buy-In: The minimum amount of money that a player requires to enter any game.
Cut: The act of dividing the deck into two sections to change the order of the cards.
Deal: To allocate cards to each player.

Deck: A set of 52 or 53 (including the Joker) playing cards.

Miscall: This is an incorrect verbal declaration of the ranking of a hand.
Misdeal: This is a mistake in the dealing of a hand. As a result of this, cards have to be reshuffled and a new hand to be dealt.
No-Limit: Under this betting structure, players can wager any or all their chips in one bet.
Pass: Here the player declines to bet. A player who passes, must fold.
Pot-Limit: Under this betting structure, players can bet up to the amount of the pot.
Potting Out: Here, a player receives the agreement of the other players to take money out of a pot. This is often to buy food, cigarettes, or drinks, or to make side bets.
Rank: This is the value of a card. Currently, a deck of cards has 13 ranks.
Raise: This is an increase in the amount of the prior wager.
Roll: The action of flipping a down card up.
Stack: These are chips placed in front of a player.
Straight: Five cards in consecutive rank.
Straight Flush: Five cards of the same suit in consecutive rank.
Stub: This refers to the portion of the deck that has not been dealt.
Table Stakes: (1) This is the amount of money that the player has on the table, and is the maximum amount that can be lost or won from him or her on any one hand. (2) The term also refers to the requirement that players can only wager the money in front of them when a hand of Poker commences.
Tournament: This is a poker competition, normally with an entry fee and prizes.
Wager: (1) To bet. (2) It may also be used to refer to the chips used for betting.
